Hi,
Setting the tool size to .99 the real size made a big difference. The belt meshes pretty well perfectly.
Thanks.

Re: Trying to make a ring pulley
Hi,
Well the author of Meshcam looked at the pulley I made and he suggested "no splines" or "convert splines to polylines" or the equivalent. Apparently lots of software has issues with splines?
He also pointed out that the central 5" hole (shaft ) in my pulley is composed of polylines and is not ...

Re: Trying to make a ring pulley
Hi,
I'm still working through all of this. This is what I have found:
Gearotic -> Fusion 360 .....can't add holes. Fusion 360 crashes or won't allow modification of the gear
Gearotic -> LibreCad -> MeshCam ...meshcam doesn't pick up dimensions and holes are missing.
Gearotic -> LibreCad -> EstlCam ...

Re: Trying to make a ring pulley
Well again I spoke too soon.
I am beginning to think that the issue arises from Gearotic and not the other applications.
In Fusion 360, any attempts to modify my gear fail with either crashes or any modifications never appearing when it is brought into MeshCam.

Re: Trying to make a ring pulley
Hi,
On the advice of someone on the shapeoko forums I tried out LibreCad software and it allowed me to place the holes without an issue.
Thanks

Re: Trying to make a ring pulley
Well, Fusion 360 is so full of bugs....I guess that's why its now only $25 a year.
Importing a 90 tooth pulley as a DXF results in really long delays, crashes, and many other issues.
So is it possible to make arbitrary holes in a gear in gearotic? (My pulley is 90 teeth, and I want three circles in ...

Exported Pulley not round?
Hi,
I have created a pulley as follows: Selected XL pulley, 90 teeth. Made the shaft 5" in diameter.
I then export as DXF and when loading into Meshcam, it reports the size as 5.709, 5.711. Should this not be the same?
Thanks

Re: Made my first XL pulley and am wondering if the size is bad ?
Hi,
Thanks. You are right. I am using a new CNC Mill (Shapeoko-3) and I don't yet have it dialed in well enough. The diameter of the gear is more than it should be so that's the source of the error.
So, I'll tune this up a bit better and then if I still have issues I will take your hint of 99 ...

Made my first XL pulley and am wondering if the size is bad ?
Hi,
Big newbie here...
I made my first XL pulley today. If has 90 teeth and around 5.7" in diameter. It is made in MDF as a test.
When I put a belt around the belt starts meshing and by the time it gets around 1/4 of the way around it starts to loose mesh. However, if I pull on the belt (stretch it ...
